Welcome!

Hi, I’m Galina, the ever-curious traveler in pursuit of unique adventures.

I’m a recovering finance professional, in a constant search of breath-taking hikes, rich cultures, and local cuisines. I will travel for food. I enjoy good coffee and will try a local beer in every country I visit.

I prefer a path less traveled but can’t say no to summers in Europe. Creating memories in bustling cities, by the ocean, in a jungle or atop a mountain, and in every small moment in between, is what truly sets my soul free.

By sharing this passion, I hope to give you the confidence to make your travel dreams a reality, information to make planning easy and inspiration to make it happen.

My Story

My personal travel journey began back in the early 2000’s when my family relocated from a itty bitty country, Latvia to Atlanta, GA.

Growing up, I haven’t travelled much. In fact, I’d only been to two cities –Moscow and Paris – before I embarked on my wildest journey yet across the pond to America. My original plan was to move to England and enroll in Oxford, but life had other ideas. And so, I moved to the peach state and the birthplace of Coca-Cola.

Then, like many people, I followed the traditional path of going to college and getting a job. Until one day, I realized something was missing. Simply put, the journey wasn’t fulfilling.

So, I finished school, quit my job, and left for a 3-month long backpacking trip across Europe. My reasoning was simple – I wanted to explore the continent I came from yet haven’t seen much of. And just like that, I set off on my first solo journey to lands unknown.

That trip was life changing. And while I did get the dreaded 9-to-5 job upon my return, I never stopped exploring. And now, I want to share my experiences, along with my mistakes, hoping to inspire others to create their own stories in different corners of the world.

That’s how “Wild is her name” was born – in a small grey cubicle out of desire to make travel more accessible and rewarding.

Why Follow Along

This isn’t a blog that will try to sell you on the idea of life on the road. I won’t tell you to quit your job and travel all the time, and honestly not everyone can or should.

I will try my best though to show you that seeing the world is possible even with a busy schedule.

Whether you are backpacking South America, sipping Aperol Spritz in Venezia, or taking a weekend-long road trip to a nearby state, my goal is to help you make the most of your travel experiences.

So, thank you for following along and I hope you’ll find something here to help you create your own wild journey.
